Gas Prices Rise Over Labor Day Weekend
Some Stations Lower Prices According to the American Automobile Association's Mid-Atlantic division, prices at the pump went up an average of 34 cents a gallon over the Labor Day holiday weekend. But some stations actually kept their prices well below the average. An Exxon gasoline station in Bethesda, Md., which wasn't very busy, was selling regular gas for $3.69 a gallon. But, a nearby Crown gas station had lowered its price for regular by 20 cents a gallon from the highs it set last week. And a service station in Centreville, Va., had a line of cars waiting to get to the pump for prices that now seem like a bargain. Just last Friday the Shell gas station raised the price of regular gasoline to $5.89 a gallon. The reason, managers said, they were low on fuel and had to cover their costs.
